Wildlife Abruzzo

Abruzzo is one of Italy's best-kept secrets when it comes to unspoiled nature and diverse wildlife. The region is home to an incredible variety of species, many of which are rarely seen elsewhere in Europe. Here, you'll find the majestic Marsican brown bear, the elusive Apennine wolf, and golden eagles soaring over rugged mountain peaks.

The national parks and nature reserves of Abruzzo offer a safe haven for these animals and countless others, including wild boar, deer, and lynxes. Whether you’re hiking through ancient forests, exploring serene meadows, or following winding mountain trails, the chance to encounter wildlife in its natural habitat is around every corner.

Our commitment to regenerative farming is part of a larger mission to protect and preserve the natural environment. By maintaining sustainable practices, we aim to support and enhance the biodiversity of this beautiful region, ensuring that future generations can experience the breathtaking wildlife of Abruzzo.

Some of the wildlife you can experience in front of our house:

  • the Apennine wolf, often heard at night and occasionally seen at a distance
  • roe deer and red deer moving quietly along the edges of the forest at dawn and dusk
  • wild boar crossing the fields in small groups
  • foxes and badgers passing through in the evening
  • birds of prey such as buzzards, kestrels, and sometimes even a golden eagle circling above

On quiet mornings, you may spot animals grazing in the distance, while at night the sounds of the landscape come alive. Living this close to nature means sharing the land, observing its rhythms, and respecting the balance between farming and wildlife.

It’s a raw and real experience — not curated or controlled — but exactly what makes Abruzzo so unique.
